Research Priority Areas

The Dana-Farber pLGG Program brings together 10 multidisciplinary laboratories dedicated to studying pLGGs and related brain tumors —creating opportunities for synergistic therapeutic advances across tumor subtypes. Our researchers have mapped key mutations in pediatric gliomas and have identified novel therapeutic agents, including the recently FDA-approved Tovorafenib. Our overall research priorities are outlined below.

1. Determine the cause and drivers of pLGG

Using state-of-the-art genomics and high-throughput analytical techniques, we seek to discover the fundamental drivers of pLGG development, revealing powerful therapeutic targets diagnostic strategies and therapeutic targets.

2. Develop high-throughput methods to study pLGG in a laboratory setting

We develop powerful laboratory models for high-throughput investigation within a laboratory setting. By reproducing these unique tumors, we can better understand how these tumors form, and importantly, can test novel therapeutics for safety and efficacy.

3. Develop effective and safe therapeutics for every pLGG patient

Through next-generation genomics, imaging, chemistry, and artificial intelligence, we seek to develop safer and effective treatments for every pLGG patient.

4. Pursue strategies to maximize survivorship and quality of life

We pursue strategies to maximize survivorship without toxicities from tumors and their treatments.
